As the ‘till death do us part’ day arrives closer, you are going to have to start taking responsibility for a whole lot of things. Some things that you didn’t even sign up for. And one such thing that happens to be your responsibility – is your wedding dress.
To ensure your wedding dress looks as good on your wedding day as it did when it left the store follow these simple rules:
Ask your designer or dressmaker to advice you on how your wedding dress should be stored over the next few days, weeks, months…
Get a good quality, padded hanger if your dress is suitable.
If your dress is heavy, hanging it might cause stress on the seams or cause the fabric to stretch or tear, avoid this to hang use a good quality hanger, avoid the use of metal hangers.
Do not store it anywhere damp. A temperature controlled wardrobe would be ideal.
If you purchased your wedding dress 6 months or more before your wedding day, try it on again a month before the day. Check if it might need any alterations.
You are also allowed one practice before the big day. Get a feel of how the dress moves and how you handle the train if you have one.
